SCHEME ON DEMONSTRATION & PROMOTION ) OF SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC DEVICES/ SYSTEMS IN URBAN AREAS

The Ministry of Non-conventional Energy Sources, Govt. of India has launched a new scheme on “Demonstration & Promotion of Solar Photovoltaic Devices/ Systems in Urban Areas with the objective to demonstrate effective alternate solutions for community/ institution for low power solar based systems in urban areas, to create awareness among the beneficiaries about the benefits of photovoltaic devices/ systems in urban areas and to reduce the burden on conventional electricity in cities/ towns and to divert the energy thus saved to small towns and villages that face acute shortage of power.    Under this scheme,  the following systems/ devices are to be promoted:

SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC WATER PUMPING PROGRAMME

works on the principle of photovoltaic conversion
of solar energy into DC electricity.

Sun rays falls on the solar photovoltaic panels
and got converted into electricity through silicon
wafers embedded in the solar photovoltaic
   panels.

Solar Photovoltaic Water Pumping system

This electrical energy then goes to the DC based motor pumping system
through the cables and operate the  motor.

Payback period is 3 years

              Advantages :

                                        No electricity required

No fuel cost  - uses abundantly available free sun light, expensive
         transmission lines not required.

                 Long operating life.

Highly reliable and trouble free performance.

                 Easy to operate and maintain.

                 Eco-friendly.

Saving of conventional diesel fuel (72000 litres/annum for 100 pumps)

             Technical Specifications :

Capacity of modules

1800 watt

Motor pump set type

Surface DC centrifugal

Capacity of the motor

2 HP

Operating voltage

60 Volt

Max. suction head

6 Mtrs.

Max. dynamic head

12 Mtrs.

Water output at 10 m dynamic head

1,37,000 lpd

Water output figures are on a clear sunny day with three times tracking of
SPV panel.

The above specifications are subject to changes brought out by
MNES/GOI/IREDA and  State Govt. from time to time.

   Suitable Model :

1800 watt centrifugal SPV water pumping system which can deliver 1,37,000 LPD
water from the dynamic head of 10-12 meters.
