Wind Energy is one of the most economical and exploitable renewable source of energy which can be harnessed for generation of power.

HAREDA is implementing a programme on assessment of the wind energy potential of the State with the financial assistance of the MNES/GOI under its nation-wide Wind Resource Assessment Programme.

Wind Monitoring Stations at potential areas with 50 m mast equipped with automatic data loggers are set up  to record the wind characteristics like speed, direction etc.

The cost of one such a Wind Monitoring Station is Rs. 8.00 lakh and is shared between the MNES,GoI and the State in 80:20 ratio. A wind monitoring station has been set up at Village-Silkhoh, Tehsil-Nuh, Distt. Gurgaon with the financial assistance of the MNES/GOI and the State Govt.

The wind velocities at morni hills(Panchkula) and abhaypur(Sohana-Gurgaun) have been reputed to be 5.45 mph to 13.08 mph at 20 meters hight. The annual average wind velocities at silkhah(Gargaun/Mewat)at 50 m. mast hight has been recorded to be 5.2m/s.Presently two more wind monitoring stations are being set up at Moshota(Narnaul) and Bahlon(Panchkula).
