INTRODUCTION OF SOLAR EDUCATIONAL KITS IN SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS OF HARYANA

            Haryana is the first State in the country who has taken the initiative to introduce the Solar Education Kits in the Senior Secondary Schools of the states to create the awareness and to educate the students about the Solar Photovoltaic Technology and its uses. During the year 2007, the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Govt. of India has also   provided the solar educational kit among the students on the occasion of celebration of Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas.

            Considering that Solar Educational Kit shall be a useful tool for the students of secondary education for demonstrating the solar education of Solar Photovoltaic Technology as with the help of it they shall be able to perform the practical to know the current and voltage of the various devices also, the Department /HAREDA has made a proposal to provide one solar educational kit per school in all the Secondary Schools of the State on demonstration basis (on 50:50 cost sharing basis between State and Centre) to demonstrate and educate about the Solar PV Technology among the students. Accordingly the office had requested the Ministry of New and Renewable energy, Govt. of India and Director General, School Education, Haryana to give their consent to provide their share for promotion of 3000 nos. of Solar Educational kits in the Secondary Schools of the State.

            The Ministry of New and Renewable energy , Govt. of India, had conveyed its sanction of 48,67,000/- central grant for purchase of 2000 nos. of Solar Educational kits in the Secondary Schools of the State

                It may be mentioned that the Standing High Powered Purchase Committee, in its meeting held on 17.9.08, approved the rate for the purchase of 2000 nos. Solar Educational Kits @ 4000/- per Education Kit, inclusive of transportation / Packaging/ supply /VAT / taxes duties etc., with one year warranty.

                  Accordingly, in view of the rates finalized by the SHPPC and 2000 Solar Education Kits have been provided at a total cost of Rs.80 lacs in the schools of 13 Distircts namely Bhiwani, Sirsa, Panipat, Karnal, Kaithal, Rewari, Rohtak, Jind, Jhajjar, Fatehabad, Gurgaon, Ambala & Panchkula  as per under noted detail:

The Education Kits provided in these schools will be used in the Science Labs to educate the students about the solar photovoltaic technology and its uses with small live models of Mini Fan, LED lamps, Solar Radio, Solar Toy Car, Door Bell, House name plate, Traffic Light signals, Road stud, Solar pump, Solar Isolation Meter, Thermo meter and Solar panel.

The department has also taken up the matter with the Centre Government to release its 50 % share of Rs. 20 lacs to provide the Solar Education Kits in the remaining 1000 Senior Secondary Schools of 7 districts i.e. Hisar, Kurukshetra, Palwal, Faridabad, Narnaul, Sonepat & Yamunanagar and these will also be covered in the next three months.
